GRISSO jewelry box

The Grisso jewelry box impresses with its uniqueness. It is handmade in an ancient marquetry technique (or straw mosaic).
Decorative objects made in this rare technique were incredibly popular in the 17th and 18th centuries and later, during the Art Nouveau period. In marquetry, a wooden base is decorated with strips of straw painted in different colors with natural dyes. Such elements make the mosaic look three-dimensional, creating interesting color transitions. Finished products are covered with a durable varnish to protect them from external influences and moisture.
