The Equilion serving platter is made of high-quality fine bone china. It is based on kaolin (white clay), quartz and bone ash (25–30%).
Bone china is a snow-white porcelain, thin and almost transparent when viewed in the light. The high percentage of bone ash, combined with white clay, gives it its characteristic delicacy and elegance. At the same time, despite its apparent fragility, this type of porcelain is much more durable than other types of ceramics. Its production is a complex, multi-stage process: the liquid porcelain mass is fired in a gas kiln, in special molds, for 10–14 hours at a temperature of 1400 °C. After cooling, the pieces are glazed by hand, then decorated using the decalcomania technique. The last stage is a new firing in the kiln. Bone china porcelain remains practically unchanged over time, retaining its whiteness and shine.
The custom design of the Equilion collection was created in the Togas Creative Office in Greece. The shades of beige, brown and warm grey evoke the colors of horses’ stirrups, saddles and silky manes. The elegant pattern on the platter easily reveals details of equestrian harness, faithfully reproducing the texture and luster of the leather. The serving platter is used as a support for other tableware, which allows the beautiful pattern of straps and stirrups that outline its edges to be highlighted. An additional 24-carat gold border enhances its sophistication.
